Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought “This is how I look? This is my face?”

You study every inch of your face, your body. You see every single flaw and the longer you stare at your reflection, you see more things you hate. You start to see the things people have made sly remarks about or jokingly commented on. A pimple you tried to hide under all that makeup or the bags under your eyes because you can not get enough sleep. Every morning you try to make yourself look perfect before leaving the house, but right now, with the mirror in front of you, you do not think you could ever even look decent, let alone perfect. You think you look horrible. Ugly. You only see flaws

Let’s think about this for a moment:  Do you think a mountain is ugly because it is too big or has crevices? No, you look at a landscape and see the beauty in its flaws.  What if you took the time to view your body as a landscape, a piece of earth. You are a piece of art. A masterpiece.

Who am I to say something like this, right?

I am the girl that took a long time to finally be able to post a selfie and be happy with it. It took me all my life to accept my flaws. To ignore the voices that told me what is wrong with my body. To see beauty in my reflection.

The biggest thing I have learned is that once you start to accept yourself for who you are and give yourself the love you so willingly give to others, you will start to feel better. You will start to love yourself again and it will feel extremely good.

Let go of the past and any hurtful things people have said to you because it does NOT define you. Your reflection may show how you look on the outside, but it does not reflect the beauty within. The mirror doesn’t show you how your eyes sparkle when you talk about something you love. The mirror doesn’t show you how kind your heart is and how caring you are and how much passion you have. The mirror does not show you the love you give others with your beautiful smile or the way your compassion has changed lives.

The mirror lies to you. Be careful of the power you are giving to it.

You are worth it.

You are beautiful.

You are a magical wonderful person.

You can be and do everything you want.

Do not doubt yourself.
